Mind over Maths is a personalised tuition company offering expert help in Grade 1 – 12 Maths in the southern suburbs of Cape Town since 2005. There are separate Junior and Senior sections and a dedicated Foundation Phase (Grade 1-3) section for younger students who need special attention in a warm, nurturing environment.
Many students start extra Maths lessons in primary school and continue right through to Grade 12. We offer Maths tuition in both English and Afrikaans and cater for Technical College students too. We run Holiday Revision Workshops as well as University Entrance Workshops.
We offer Maths tutoring tailored to the following: CAPS, IEB, NSC, Cambridge, NBT preparation and SAT preparation.
Our aim is to help learners reach their potential in an environment far removed from the average classroom. No sardine-can scenarios! We’ve had many years’ experience teaching students with special needs (remedial difficulties, ADD, ADHD) and our approach works for them as we interact with and check up on them constantly to make sure they’re staying on track. We work at a pace that they’re comfortable with and adapt our teaching methods accordingly. There isn’t the limitation of one set programme that has to work for every student.
Our Maths tutors are qualified, professional, friendly and efficient and go out of their way to ensure each student’s success. We use our experience to help students as individuals with individual needs.
We go back to basics and build a foundation from there. We teach theory, help with school homework if required, go over past exam papers and follow the syllabus plan specific to each student’s school. We love seeing the change as students go from being apprehensive about and disliking Maths to excelling and gaining self-confidence in their abilities.
Richard heads up the Centre and has, amongst his other qualifications, a Bachelor of Science degree with Mathematics as one of his majors.
