Company description
Stardrift AFC was established in 1948 by the Basset Brothers, this makes the club one of the oldest football clubs affiliated to the Northern Areas Football Association (NAFA). The club originated in the then Fairview suburb. The name of the club actually comes from a horse the brothers placed bets on, hence the monogram. With the advent of apartheid, all the families living in Fairview were moved to the northern areas of Port Elizabeth where the club continued to function, with the majority of the players coming from the Sanctor, Salsoneville, and Arcadia and Bethelsdorp suburbs.
Currently the club is sitting with 105 juniors and 52 senior players and most of the players are from disadvantaged and impoverished backgrounds. Through promoting soccer amongst the youth in our community we as a club try to keep them away from gangsterism and drugs, which at this time, is rife in our communities.
